She's kind of manly but is nothing like the men I actually go for. I go for lighter men who are taller than me and are neat. she's both shorter and dark skinned and i have this thing about nails that i prefer them to be cleanly trimmed but her are pretty long and sort of bent weirdly. She's the opposite of what i look for yet im extremely drawn to her. she's just like me and we have awkward silences all the time but never care about them. i want to tell her how i feel but i dont want to ruin our friendship.

    That's completely normal. Sexuality is terribly complex, so even though you have a type, that doesn't necessarily mean that you're not going to be attracted to something different at a lesser-equal-and/or stronger force as what you're usually drawn to.

    Maybe try hinting at it rather than telling her all at once? See how she reacts to you "joking" about something like you two being a couple, and gauge what to do from there.
