Is it normal that i hate letting other people borrow my pen?

Right, often they never give it back. It slips their mind, it slips my mind. Or things are in a rush. Or it's a group signing a card for someone, "May I borrow your pen?" Goodbye, pen!

Or if it's a fountain pen. I'm afraid they're going to bear down on it too hard and wreck the nib.

Or worse yet, they borrow the pen, use it, and I see them mindlessly putting the pen in their own pocket. "Excuse me, my pen please?" And then they're like I'm some sort of jerk for speaking up and not letting them make off with my pen.

I haven't used fountain pens in years but when I did, no way would I let anyone borrow them. Or if I did for a bried moment I would have my eyes glued to my pen. Fountain pens are personal! Any other pen I don't care.

It may sound bizarre but while it may seem absolutely polite to say "Excuse me, my pen please," it can sound jerkish. To be specific, pretentious. Ask it back sure but maybe be casual about it

Keep a cheap pen handy for them? The cheapest, worst pen you can find. That will teach them!!!

Trailing off topic about pens....my favorite pen is the Zebra F-301. Its not a pricey pen. But, to me, its just as nice as the Mont Blanc pens. I'm all about the pen weight and balance, and stuff like how smooth the ink writes. I'm actually quite picky. The Zebra pens that use the Fine 0.7mm black ink refills are up to snuff.

buy a couple dozen pens at the dollar store(you can get a 12 pack) and just give them away. Never a borrower or a lender be!

Because it's a pen....i have dozens in my house and always have one available. But I am particular about my pens. I don't let people borrow my favorites, i give them the free one i got at the bank. No reason to get worked up over something so easy to avoid.

    Normal.

Maybe carry around regular pens you don't care to loose for others to borrow.

I cringe from simply the "unknown" factor of what ever they've touched with their bare hands before groping my pen.
