Is it normal that i hate it when people say tea instead of dinner?

This is probably only in the UK. It is so annoying and confusing. If someone says 'do you want tea?' you don't know what they are asking you. I just find it soooo dumb. And I think it might be a posh thing.

    • I'm sure that's how the Americans do it. Us Brits are a bit more weight conscious.

Sounds annoying to me. I'm American... never heard of this, but it would bug me.

I thought that they called dinner "supper" and tea was strictly for tea time.

    • Never heard anyone say 'supper' outside of the goldilocks story. Dinner is for dinner, tea is annoyingly either for dinner or for drinking tea.
