Is it normal that i hate it when people don't accept handicapped people?

Healthy people almost always think low of handicapped people, like me, I got Rheuma (Syndrom of Tietze), Epilepsy (Absences aka Petit Mals), weak muscles (no not a muscle disorder it's mostly endurance of muscles due to brain herphormage), brain herphormage at age of 11, Autism (mostly gone), balance disorder, small part of brain has died, yet I live life to the fullest, I do as much as I can, but still healthy people just can't seem to see that handicapped people are stronger than healthy people (well... Most of them).

I got rejected at job appliances, got kicked out of my college when I got Rheuma and I'll probably never will get a job (no I'm not a poor little human if you're thinking that!) I even got bullied when I just had the brain herphormage (well... More than usual back then).

What healthy people must give 100% effort for, handicapped people must give 200% effort for and most of them succeed so theorically handicapped people are stronger than healthy people, yet handicapped people don't count in society, and that's what I hate so much. Is it normal I hate it so freakin much?

Handicapped people are as much human as healthy people!

  • I commend and respect your 200%. Not only do you have to deal with your "handicaps", you have to deal with the rude people of this society. I want you to know that although most of this world is inhabited by disgusting creatures, there are also good people. Just think about the positive, because there's always both, so why not be positive. As for the people who look down on you, just prove them wrong. It may be a long fight, but all fights have to start somewhere. Kill em with the kindness.

    It is isanely rude.

I broke my foot when I was a young one and in 6th grade, and someone called me a cripple. I should have went after that kid and smacked him upside the head with my crutches.

Yeah I agree, People always put autistic people in that not-sociable, living in their own world and being dumb and stupid stuff, that's wrong, sure some autistic people are like that, and then they're still people, and lots of people are autistic without knowing it, but lots of autistic people are more sociable than "normal" people.

Physical handicaps are fine, look at Stephen Hawking and his accomplishments. The mentally handicapped, however, are pretty much worthless and just a toll on human society.

I agree. So many rude people nowadays. What's this world coming to?

I have a form of autism, but I actually don't consider it a disability in my case because I do well with it. I feel underestimated quite a bit though. :/

I always keep my chin up ^^.

The thing I hate the most is that I don't get a fair chance at, well, everything.

I get you, and don't worry about those people who look down on you. They don't mean anything. Just keep your chin up.

Not saying you're stupid in case you read it like that.

I agree, people with dyslexia and such are probably very smart, sure they aren't good with words but they probably are good with maths or art. And being nervous and such is nothing strange, lots of people have it, yet when someone gets special attention for it, then suddenly you're stupid for most people.

I think its normal that you feel the way you do. I think the same goes with people who have learning disabilities. In middle school I got this thing where I could take longer on my tests, because I always felt nervous with tests, and I usually had to read things twice in order to process it fully, but I always felt underestimated. This one girl I knew had dyslexia, and people made her seem like she was mentally slow or something. I think the same happens with people who are physically handicaped as well. However, I wouldn't say everyone treats them that way, but a lot of people do.

Thank you! I can't always go out either because I often lack energy but most of those times I go anyways and then I need the rest of the day to rest and go through hell's pain, but hey, I just go for it, and yeah I walk like a drunk penguin too when I have lots of pain and fatique. I often think: If all humans except those who are more handicapped than me feel my pain and fatique I have when walking and going up stairs (my worst enemy haha) 95% of all humans wouldn't go out of their bed.

I've had no balance for 6 months with nerve damage so know exactly how you feel coz I walk as if I'm drunk!

I honestly genuinely admire handicapped people who make the supreme effort to make it out their front door. I haven't seen much daylight since I've been effected - so I admire you greatly!!

    Oh and @wise

I am positive about it because I know not all people look down on people with handicaps, but getting a fair chance is nearly impossible, I applied for a job, then when I ha to tell it, Their eyes just pointed at the door and they lied about not having a job anymore, how narrow-minded. Handicapped people usually have waaaaaay higher motivation. Because they can usually take more punishment, body and mind.

  • People are so stupid. I am sure that half the posters on this site look down on people with handicaps, and all the while they write and express their ideas like complete morons. You however, have written a wonderful, enriching post and sound like one of the most intelligent people I've heard. They should be criticizing themselves.
