Is it normal that i hate having to watch something in a 4:3 aspect ratio?

I was recently watching some old TV shows that were in the old 4:3 aspect ratio. Damn, I don't know how we thought this crap was acceptable back then, now when we've gotten used to the 16:9 format.

It's purely because you're used to it. Don't be a wimp about it.

I don't mind having to watch tv in the 4:3 aspect ratio, for some reason I don't mind the black bars at the sides. I'd rather watch it in its original format then, rather than stretch the image to fill my 16:9 screen. It's more original that way (and looks better when it's not stretched).

I hate having to watch anything in the 21:9 aspect ratio though, with the black bars at the top/bottom. I have to stretch the image to fill my 16:9 screen then. Even if I had a 21:9 screen though, so that there wouldn't be any black bars and the image wasn't stretched, I don't like the 21:9 aspect ratio anyway. It's way too wide, like unnecessarily wide.

Also I remember when my family got our first widescreen 16:9 tv, I didn't like it. I preferred the old square shape. I just thought widescreen was a gimmick. I was only little then though so maybe I wouldn't have felt the same if I was an adult when widescreen tvs were first introduced.
