I absolutely HATE the fact that these damn electric kickbikes, you know, those rental lime scooters, are laying on the ground literally everywhere you look. Well, to be fair, it's not the company's fault, it's people who are lazy, disrespectful pigs. This is why we can't have nice things.
If that was a problem I regularly encountered, I'd be very tempted to chuck the damn things in the nearest dumpster or whatever.
It's tough on the company that owns the things to lose an asset, but I don't agree with you that this isn't the company's fault. Anyone with any sense knows that a significant proportion of people are inconsiderate dicks. If a company's business model doesn't take account of this fact and allows users to get away with creating trip hazards and obstacles without suffering any consequences, then then the irresistible force of the profit and loss balance sheet should be used to put the firm out of business.

It is the companies fault. The know people do that and they hire people to pick up the scooters, recharge them, and return them to rental locations.
If they charged the person who rented them the cost of the scooter for not returning them, or a very substantial fee (say $200), the problem would be solved very quickly.
I'm like " Do you care about the space around you? " when people do that.
