Is it normal that i get really anxious and nervous when my boss is close to me?

Okay so I recently passed passed probation at my new job (I'm a fresh graduate) and honestly, I'm not sure if I like my position or not (I love the company though). My direct supervisor who trains me and sits near me is awesome and really nice but our manager who only comes into our office once or twice a week is very strict and demanding. (I work in corporate accounting at a small local firm in the states)

Sometimes she will come into our office and ask me to do something right away, and then she will stand literally right behind me and watch. This makes me extremely nervous and I start to mess up. (Eg. I normally don't make typos nor really stupid mistakes but the last time she stood behind me, I kept making numerical mistakes non-stop and clicked on the wrong things)

Anyways, I guess I'm also trying to ask if it's normal to make mistakes and/or mess up when you're (intimidating) manager/boss is hovering over you? Sometimes when we have meetings, I'll get extremely fidgety and feel like punching a wall. (she is also very unreasonable)

Very normal. I agree with paramore93 that this is just a passing phase. You seem well spoken, so I'm sure you'll get through this phase and soon you'll be beaming with confidence!

I'm not sure if you have music playing already at work, or if you are allowed, but you can try it. Sometimes the silences amplify anxiety. You can try humming, you can even strike up small-talk. Do whatever to mark your territory i.e. make your desk "your comfort zone." Ever heard of the saying, "a lion at home but a mouse abroad"? Exploit that mindset

    Good luck
