Is it normal that i feel uncomfortable in churches?

I don't know why but everytime I'm in a church it makes me uncomfortable. I don't know why.
I don't hate churches or anything like that. I also don't really have any bad experiences made in a church.

Can anyone relate or is anything wrong with me?

  • I feel uncomfortable around religious things in general. It disturbs me how in the 21st century, so many people still rely on stupid fairy tales and voodoo rituals for life-guidance.

I get the same thing. I can't go near a church or crucifix without feeling intense terror. I have other issues as well, like my eyes turn red and glow when I get angry. And occasionally, I levitate. Not sure what the problem could be.

Churches are places where freedom of thought, and the liberty of the spirit are attacked. Individuality is suppressed and conformity to prescribed beliefs is expected. No wonder you feel uncomfortable. Your soul is telling you to leave.

What makes me uncomfortable is the singing. Do we really have to sing these stupid songs? I feel like even god would hate the singing.

I get this picture of someone's ghost standing up and telling the physical being, "Man, we gotta roll."

Never set foot in one never will. Besides when I was forced into the Old North Church. And as a child but I don't remember that and it was usually this weird basement they did craft fairs in.

They can be kind of creepy. They're old, gothic, echoing, often empty, with just old priests and nuns hovering about. I don't like them either.

I went to catholic school and church every week growing up. As an adult, the guilt that people are forced to admit to is terrifying. One would think the connection with God would be loving. Not fearful.

God is not a super nice god. Idk why churches portray him like that. If you read the bible he is vengeful and wants to be feared.

      • True. Idk why your comment was disliked. When I read my Bible, I see that God doesn't shy away from taking credit for everything, good and evil.

Yeah you get it. I wasnt trying to come off as insulting religion, but I believe it to be true. He's portrayed as being all roses and rainbows. Its not the case. He will send you to hell.

McBean offered what is probably the most intelligent explanation but here are a few more reasons too -

Let us talk about how uncomfortable the seats are - non-ergonomic hard wood benches. Well now, that is just the beginning.

Two is with all this holiness and these "righteous" people around, one feels like he or she is being judged, kind of the way an out-of-shape person likely feels at a gym.

Finally, unlike other boring or uncomfy places like work or an in-law's home, one is not really suppose to complain about it. At work you can complain about stuff but at church you can't just blurt out, "This shit is boring!"

Choose your church better. Some are calm and peaceful, others are political driven or noisy and cater for those who need to be entertained. It's up to you to find what you are looking for.
