Is it normal that i feel something should be done about over population

Is it normal that I think that there should be international conventions against people having more than one child?
With this planet quickly running out of clean air and water and soon will not be able to produce enough food to feed everybody, isn't about time to curb the number of children a couple is allowed to have, since few seem to be able to do it voluntarily?
If a couple is allowed to have 1 child, the population will decrease until it reaches a sustainable level without hundreds of thousands (millions?) having to die horribly to reach the same goal.
It amazes me that only one country on this planet has taken any steps in this direction.
One would think that human beings were smarter than animals, which, with no natural enemies, will overpopulate an area until they are killed back to normal levels by disease or starvation. I guess not.

It would`nt be so bad if it was the healthy, intelligent people that were breeding, but no, it`s the stupid & unhealthy that are cluttering up the planet with their diseased offspring, & bankrupting the health services of the civilised world. We need to get back to Darwin`s law of survival of the fittest, otherwise who knows what the human race will be reduced to in a coulple of centuries.

This is sadly true. Idiots fuck all the time and don't care to think or stop about what their actions do to others, the government and the world. An intelligent person would wait till they have a substantial home and income to bring kids into this world. Not some stupid fucking 16 year old that is not even out of school yet.

Everybody here needs to watch Gattaca because it is totally relevant to this conversation and to what science is doing today.

Anyway, I believe education (esp. for woman) and innovation in science (re. renewable energy) is the answer, not restrictive policies.

It's SICKENING how people reproduce without thinking it through first. Something NEEDS to be done in the developing countries and for the poor in developed countries. I feel bad but it should be illegal to have more than 3 kids. India?? Why are you multiplying so freaking much?

I think we should just start killing the fucking dicks in prison with 4-6 rape/peadophile and kidnap charges. Who people amazingly think we should leave in the world. That or just let the morons sacrifice themselves to these people to keep the monsters appeased. Like those women who say "I know who murdered all his ex girlfriends but I want to be with him". Like fucking really? No fucking common sense left in this world. For fuck sake. That do not listen when you tell them "That sounds like a bad idea". Than shows up a week later dead and you wonder "Gee who could have done it"? I think only people of a certien income should be allowed to reproduce. The issue is enforcing these types of laws though.

its normal but nearly impossible...think about it, people are living longer than ever before, human rights are improving, and its basic human nature to want more...its pretty much too late for that

The world will one day be over populated, and when that happens, I hope that they do something like that. With majority of America's family's having one or two children, why can't every family. I hate when I see a family with 4+ children, just because they want kids. But I bet its pretty hard to support all those children with the economy today.

Just exactly what world do you live in? The world I live in is already overcrowded. Just yesterday I read (yes, I can read things other than IIN) that Europe's forests were at saturation level for CO2. In case you don't know it, trees absorb CO2 and expel O2; oxygen. You know, that stuff we need to breathe.
There is not enough food produced today to adequately feed the present world population and much of even the USA does not have potable water from the tap any more, let alone most of the rest of the world.
If we don't change our ways soon, very soon, this planet will not be habitable for humans, which is perhaps a good thing, as we are surely destroying it as fast as we can.

Yes, because absolutely no-one has died as a result of China's one-child policy...
