Is it normal that i feel much more confident when i speak in a british accent?

Okay so I'm normally a pretty shy person around people I don't know. In fact, at work I haven't made any friends with my co-workers at all. However, when I serve customers I talk in a British accent with confidence and get great tips due to it. Part of this is due to the fact that I just think it's hilarious, the other is because in my normal voice I have no confidence. As a matter of fact, I have never uttered a word in my college class until today and when I did I spoke in a British accent! It keeps a smile on my face because they really think I'm not from America, which in turn gives me confidence! Is this normal?!?!

Didn't Ross do that on Friends? I can fuck up an accent like nobodies business. Even my own =/

No he means British. He just switches between all the different ones at random times. Languages, too. It's impressive.

There is no such thing as a 'British' accent...

I suppose it's fairly harmless and if it's good enough, then the customers aren't to know! What kind of British accent do you mean? There are probably over a hundred. I'm guessing you mean well spoken London or 'Southern' BBC kind of accent? On the other hand, you might mean Cockney London or Westcountry Devonshire (usually referred to here as 'farmer'!) I should mention there's a lot of variation just in the South. I know if I attempted any kind of American accent in public, I'd just make a fool of myself. I can do an excellent Australian accent, though (the softer type.)
