Is it normal that i feel like i want something to be wrong with my mind?

Sometimes, at night, I start to think of possible things that could be wrong with me mentally, then I go off and take as many online tests as I can, to see if the likelihood is high.

  • Online tests aren't at all reliable.
I have taken many after being called a narcissist, antidocial, sociopath, and psychopath by people on here.
The results were just stupid. According to these tests I have about nine different mental/personality dissorders, which obviously isn't true.

Doing online tests to see if anything is wrong with your mentality is not a smart move.

    • I was diagnosed as antisocial by a professional (after my legal troubles) at my familys request. And your spot on there, those tests online are not like the ones they really give you. It also requires friends and family to be interviewed in regards to the patients character and behaviour. I always thought of antisocials as these evil ass people but apparently they are all VERY different.

      • I've had about two therapists and was tested as a child. I remember lying about the things I was asked when I was a child. When I was with my therapists one of them thought I was on drugs...Which questioned if they were at all suited for their job, because I never toucch drugs, I don't even drink.
I have engaged in quite a lot of illegal activity, not been found for it, but I don't know if I should try see a professional, I don't think I would want it on my record if I do have a dissorder. In my opinion, I think I'm perfectly fine, but there is always that off chance that I'm not.

        • When i was young i just repeatedly refused to follow orders of teachers at school so they just ignored it and let me be. As an adult i did the same with employers, never held a job more than two months in my life. After my short jail stint i was assessed because i wouldn't apologise to the victim (she had it coming though). They say anti-social, i say they can fuck themselves. Don't bother seeing one, just stick to out doing the system.

They could (and probably would) tell you you're crazy. I think you are stable and just fine though. I like your rebellious-like stance against the system too. There is no need for you to be told that you have a problem, when you yourself know that you will be perfectly fine on your own. But there will always be that curiosity to know exactly what they would say isn't there?

When I was young, my mom took us three siblings(my older brother, older sister, and I) to a counselor. My sister is so smart, she told that counselor all kinds of shit just to mess with her. I honestly think that my sister probably traumatized that lady... The last session that she had, she told her 'Oh, and by the way, everything that I told you was a lie' and walked out.

I was also told by a psychologist that online tests are basically shit. They are not even close to the real thing at all.

  • No... Why would you want that?! I suffered anorexia & bdd for years & it killed my social life & my education & a close fiend of mine has manic depression which lead to her almost killing herself :/ I just don't get why you would want any of that? I mean it's so hard to do anything & the slightest thing can give you a relapse it's not fun and in no way should be glamorised ! ><

If you want something to be wrong with you, you're probably just bored. It's normal for you to be curious, but I wouldn't start putting myself in life-altering situations just for the sake of causing mental damage.

I don't want to say that you sound like you have nothing wrong with you, but if you are over 18 and your "problems" have not landed you into any trouble, debt, jail-time, an institution or some other situation in which you would have been psychologically evaluated, then they are either very mild in nature or non-existent.
Sounds more like "white coat-syndrome" to me.

And listen to ItDuz on this one. Online tests are pretty unreliable in this area. They are useful tools to HELP the accuracy of a diagnosis but they are, by no means, a reliable source of diagnosis, much less self diagnosis.

Sounds more like you just need to go to bed. I know most folks here in my country have a mental disorder of some sort, but there is still a minority of those who are cool with life and you sir, may be one of them :P
