Is it normal that i fall deeply and madly in love with video game characters?

Okay... so I've never been in a serious relationship, I have felt what love is... And I know what it is... And after my break up with my "boyfriend" I started feeling more and more attached to the main character of Assassin's Creed 3... Connor Kenway. Since I lost a few family members in my life, in similar ways that he lost his Ma, I felt his pain... So I kind of became so in love and obsessed with him that it started affecting my life. My friends couldn't... Well I should say... They Can't stand me, haha... Anyways, they can't stand me because I'm always talking about assassin's Creed and stuff. My Ma threatens to take me to a therapist... Am I normal? Well, obviously not, but it isn't as bad as they make it out to be, right? I just need advice...

When I was younger, I use to crush hard on Link. Grown up sexy Link, not little boy Link. But I can't say I was ever in love with a made up person. You should totally go to a convention and cosplay (I've never been in to Assasins Creed myself) as a female character of the game and find your real life Conner! You may end up having a connection with them, and they'll have the cosplay to pull out of the closet for you every now and then...

But you don't want to like them because they're pretending to be that person, because that's unrealistic...

Never mind. I'm at a loss now :|

Maybe it was just your way to cope with the break up, but now it's sort of gotten out of hand. There's nothing bad about it, it's just sad because you could be putting your time and interest into something more meaningful for you.

I wasn't trying to point out your problem. I'm trying to come up with a solution without hurting your feelings. It's just that, Conner Kenway isn't real, I mean, he's a character in a game, nothing more, it's just a waste of your time.

Why don't you try to leave your obsession alone and focus on who you are and what you want?

That's just it. It's hard to leave it alone. I've tried... And yeah I know who I am and what I want out of life. XD I'm not like the average teenage girl... I'm going to become a psychologist. Slightly Ironic, huh?

I have been in...well won't say love, because I do not feel love or emotions, but.... an attraction to many fantasy females. Growing up, my ideal woman was Morticia Addams. Ever try finding someone real like her? Not happening.

Fantasy women are perfect. They are the ideal fantasy lover. They do not bitch, they do not go psycho for a few days every month, and are...to over use the word, perfect.

My suggestion is to try out the various Cosplay Cons and perhaps you will find someone, not the exact fantasy person but someone who will come vaguely close to what you want.

If nothing else, your "fantasy" video game love will give you something to masturbate over until you can find someone.

I've fallen in love with characters in anime and don't give a shit about people who make fun of it. Go on girl. A ton and I mean a ton of my relatives do that

I remember having crushes on Sora and Riku from the Kingdom Hearts series.

I've done that often enough... Honestly if it makes you happy it's all that matters. It doesn't hurt you or anyone else so why should you stop because it's not considered normal ? Beside it will pass and you will find a real guy one day.

BTW,it does not mean that you're failing to "focus on who you are, and what you want," just because you enjoy something. That would be like saying, that if you enjoy playing golf, then you are failing to focus on who you are.

Unless maybe you're buddhist, and trying to give up all worldly pleasures... I guess that's an option too....
    (sorry for being so mean)
