Is it normal that i enjoy heavy metal music but i can't stand metalheads?

Not all metalheads are nasty mean, there are a few gentle ones, but I do agree, a majority of them can be really rude and full of themselves, and VERY quick to insult you if you have a different opinion.

A metalhead's love for metal is something they are very proud of, which is why most of them never see the opportunity to listen to soft rock, soul, new wave, etc. Do you know what I mean? A metalhead LIVES for metal, and they have to cram it into their life as much as possible. They have no time for other genres.

Don't let it bother you, be proud that your taste in music is clearly marvellous. They should people like you "music-heads" lol ^_^

And yes, I agree that black and death metal is just really tasteless. I don't know how any sane person can like such diabolical noise and compare it to standard, good old metal. Once someone in a hotel was playing it night after night and I just checked out of the hotel early and went to a different one.

I believe what makes me a metalhead is the extremely wide array of music I choose to listen to and my conscious choice to listen to heavy metal the most because it strikes a chord (no pun intended) with me. Not screaming at random people on the street, not having homicidal thoughts against nu metal musicians (I actually love some nu metal), and not having a cut-off denim vest with patches on it.

It's not normal. It's admirable.

I, too, love the music but dread the fans. I always feel kind of threatened whenever going to concerts. Obviously, everyone is an individual, but the majority of fans seem to be beligerent, obnoxious, gun fanatics. Need I mention the moshing?

I like ACDC and Ozzie but HATE Metallica.

I know how you feel. I am very deep into metal, but I also listen to alternative rock, sixties rock, classical music and sometimes country.

If you want to see the biggest fucking assholes and douchebag metalheads there are, go to www.metal-archives.com (Encyclopedia Metallum). On their forum there are a bunch of fucktard metalheads who are so arrogant, it is unbelievable.

I love metal, always have and always will, but a lot of metalheads really pisses me off. I think a lot of them are insecure and that is why they act like first graders with wet panties.

Half of them probably don't mean it, but if they do, something's very wrong.

I too tend to think that bands/actors I like don't disappoint, but that's because they're genuinely good. If a band's put out, say, 15+ albums it's highly unlikely they'll *all* be good –-- just don't say so on that band's website.

I've stopped going on bands' websites unless I’ve got a hope of actually seeing the band & I'm much happier for not doing so.

I think it's the same think as liking a band/singer, but not to the extreme of being an obsessed crazy fangirl or whatever.

I couldn't agree with you more.

They're only horrible bastards on the internet because they can be and other people can't kick the shit out of them. I love all metal (including black/death, although new death metal groups are shit) and I've found that the metalheads I've met in person are twatty, unfunny cunts that are heading nowhere in life as they're determined to live up to the stereotype of partying all the time and not doing work at school/college. That's not to say all metalheads are like that.

Metalheads tick me off. They seem to think that metal's the most innovative music around. Some have even said that they'd commit suicide if there was no heavy metal, or they'll kill people who "diss it". It's just sad, and makes me ashamed to enjoy metal, knowing that they've turned out like they have.

People must respect others music choices, good quality music comes from many genres not just metal. People who don't understand that are just sad..... in the other hand if someone compares metal with justin bieber i would understand some rage xD

I feel the same way man I can't stand those guys there even more serious than the bands themselves which is why they don't tend to not go far.... they forget that music is for entertainement. I got my favorite band and I'm an extreme fan of them because they're extremly good but nah man doesn't mean that I need to stand up for that band like a crazyass pitbull with absolutely no tolerance to other music. The more types of music you listen, the better it is.

You have an excellent choice in music :-D but you will always find there are extremists for all types of music wether it be metal, rap, rock, death metal, gothic metal, classical, jazz, blues etc etc every fan of the genre will say that their favourite genre is the best and that won't change :-)

True,A lot of the times it is like that ,But usually the people who make the music (bands ,dj/producers etc) are big music fan's and listen to a lot of music styles & genre's.so that's a thought that allways helps me
