Is it normal that i don't want my gf and bf to tell their parents about us?

I am in a polyamorous relationship with a woman and a man. I am female and I love them both very much. My parents are atheist, just like me, but their parents are religious and they think their parents won't like our relationship. My partners think that telling their parents will cause a big fight. I don't want my partners to tell their parents because I don't want them to fight with their families. Family means a lot to both of them and I don't want to be the cause of them losing their parents. Is it normal that I don't want them to tell their parents?

Your feelings are normal for someone in your position. But you're powerless over whether or not your significant others tell their folks. Also even among non religious people polyamory is considered outside of the norm.

They are the ones who get to decide if they keep the relationship a secret or not, not you. Keeping you a secret may well be causing just as much distress as an argument with their parents would, so it's their call to make. If it helps you, I see no reason why it would be your fault if a fight was caused.

  • Yay for polyamory! I've never believed humans were meant to be monogamous. Oh, and I've just recently been introduced to the hit Showtime reality series, Polyamory. It's my new favorite show that shows penises and boobs. LOL

I think that you are right. You are young and I don't believe that the relationship will last a lifetime so it's a very good idea not to tell.

It is "give in "(given - something that is bestowed) (Give in- to succumb to circumstance)

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to support them if there is a fight between them and their families?
