Is it normal that i don't see guys i like as people?

For some reason I lack complete empathy for men I'm attracted to. I don't see them as people but more as objects, and I don't know why. I am aware that they are capable of reason and emotions but it means nothing to me. It is as if they are objects. Is anyone else like this? And is there an explanation?

This is one of those times where it's fairly common but definitely not normal. Objectifiying someone is really disrespectful even if they appear to like it. It can be fun when two people mutually objectify each other, but there still has to be some respect involved and that can only come from seeing other people as, well, people.

As a strategy for developing empathy for attractive guys, try actually making (platonic) friends with some. Then you'll truly understand that they really are no different to yourself.

It's normal just not condoned. Men and women are exactly the same. The differences come from what society says is normal and what society pays attention to as being bad or unacceptable. It happens a lot on women and mens side, you feel its wierd because it usually isnt talked about when women do it. For instance if a guy posted this there would be pages of rage from woman shaming you in a million ways. It's normal, it's just not good for anyone involved

It's a shitty way to think about anyone especially someone to whom you're attracted. Ideally then you shouldn't mind if men who are attracted to you feel that way about you then. I mean fair is fair, what's the difference if random guys see you like an object, a piece of meat.

    • I don't choose to think that way, though. I just do. I tried to stop but I can't. That's just how I feel, and I don't know why.
