Say I received a Facebook message on Tuesday, and I don't reply until Thursday. Is doing this not normal? Does that make me a bad friend?
I fail to see how not being at the beck and call of social media makes you a bad friend. If it was important, they'd contact you more directly, like by phone.
Normal, I do the same thing.
Well, if you see the message on Tuesday then don't reply until Thursday then yeah it's kind of douchey but if you get it on Tuesday and don't see it till Thursday then it's all good.
I do that and some people get so angry. It's like they can't handle a day of waiting. And the messages are always mundane like, "Hey, I just scratched my ass. How about you?"
It depends on who the FB message is from. If it is a close, regular friend I would phone/text/FB them back within a day or so. If it is a distant friend, and, depending on the nature of the message, I think it's ok to reply after a few days sometimes.
When I have the time I'll call you up sometime over the weekend,but not today.
I'll get back to you on this one, I have more important things to attend to.
