Is it normal that i don't really know what to consider losing your virginity?

I know it sounds very dumb, but I am a teenage girl in my last year of high school. I am still a virgin (because to me personally it is a very special thing that I want to save for someone that loves me that I love as well). Anyways, getting off topic, I consider losing your virginity as having sexual intercourse. Is it the definition of how I see it or is losing your virginity something else? Can someone please tell me what the real definition or way of losing your virginity is?

*intercourse. Stupid iPod... But yeah, just because your hymen breaks doesn't mean you lost your virginity. Otherwise, a lot of little girls would have "lost their virginity" to shit like tampons. Bullshit.

No, there is no such thing as hymen. There is nothing to "break", it's a (unfortunately) long-lived myth.

Here's some helpful information for everyone:

Quote from the information I linked to above (but do read the whole text):

"Known by the established term “hymen,” the vaginal
corona is the subject of many myths and misunderstandings. The most important of these is the
notion that a woman’s vaginal opening is covered
by a membrane that ruptures on penetration. This
is incorrect. There is no such membrane."

So, no "popping your cherry", or "breaking the wall", remember!!

Dude are you crazy? Go to google images and type in "hymen", you can see tons of them. They exist.

Oh, so you believe Google and not the informative text I posted a link to above?

Google "unicorn" there's tons of pictures of them too.

Many of the illustrated pictures of vaginas with actual membranes that cover the vaginal opening are utter bullshit. If you look at real photos of vaginas of adult women you see no membrane, and if you see such a picture it's most probably a malformation that very few women have. An actual membrane that covers the opening is usually discovered at birth and surgically removed. Now, there is a so-called CORONA around the vaginal opening, which sometimes still is referred to as *hymen*. BUT as I said, there's no actual membrane (that many still believe) which you break through during first intercourse.

The definition is different for everyone. I'm the same as you and we have the same definition of losing your virginity. But for other people it could be different. Gay people can't have the same kind of intercourse straight people can, but still consider it sex. It's more of a personal definition, although yours is the most common.

    dictionary help

    virgin (n) - Bing Dictionary
    vir·gin [ vúrjin ]
somebody who has never had sex: somebody who has never had sexual intercourse
religious woman committed to chastity: a woman who has taken a vow of chastity for religious reasons

sexual intercourse (n) - Bing Dictionary
    sex·u·al in·ter·course
sex involving penetration: an act carried out for reproduction OR pleasure involving penetration

therefore, if anything has penetrated you for pleasurable reasons, you are not a virgin. you can still be a virgin if you commit to chastity, but then again, the definition for society is mainly if you have anal or vaginal sex with a man (if you're a woman)

For girls it is being brought to orgasm by another person or being penetrated by a penis for boys it is ejaculation inside the vagina of a human woman without a condom anything other than that is just fooling around.

Without trying to sound too confrontational:
Are you suggesting that if a man has sex with a condom, that it's just "fooling around?" Or if he doesn't ejaculate inside of the vagina that it isn't sex?

And I have to admit, I laughed out loud reading "human woman."

yes if all he ever does is cum in the condom and no sperm EVER comes into contact with ANY part of her vagina then yes even sexual intercourse to mutual orgasm is still just fooling around and he is therefore still a virgin it is sex but it isn't sex that makes him not a virgin.

If a man has ever put his penis in your ass or vagina you are no longer a virgin. If he just puts it in your mouth, youre still a virgin, but youre also considered to be "sexually active", and if you do it a lot youre a slut.

Now this brings up a lot of confusion as to what counts as "sex" for lesbians, but thats an entirely different subject.

You have to have sex in order for it to be considered losing your virginity. It's not like any sexual contact can be considered losing it :P You have to be physically entered by a man. And not with a finger ;) I'm kinda guessing you did something naughty and your worried your not a virgin anymore. If that's the case, then don't worry

basically if she gives a bj then shes still got her virginity, if she gives you a handjob shes still got her virginity.

If she lets you in her birth canal then shes lost her virginity. Simples

I think that just breaking the hymen doesn't always mean losing your virginity, since you can break it while horseback riding, or doing gymnastics, or other sports.

Losing your virginity means when a guy penetrates a woman, meaning intercourse. That's what I think anyways

Have you had a penis in an orifice? It's hard to consider someone a virgin if they blew a football team while the basketball team took turns fucking her in the ass. But oh, there was no vaginal penetration.
