Is it normal that i don't find scary scenes scary if they take place in the 80s

For example, if I see a gory and disturbing scene in a movie, I find it horrifying if I don't know the year it came out. For example, the anime Higurashi had many horrifying, gory and painful to watch scenes, plus a psychologically disturbing aspect. However, I didn't feel too disturbed just because it took place in 1983. I have no hatred for the 80's, but I just feel this way. Is it normal?
