Is it normal that i don't care about what kind of music people listen to?

I tend to listen to stuff that's different or older, but I'm not all elitist about it. If mainstream stuff is what sounds good to someone's ears, then so what? People should just listen to whatever makes them happy.

  • Me too.

I think people who get snobby about music are jerks.

That is the point I've tried to get across for years.

I can't believe that some people would care. Unless you force someone to listen to your music, it's none of their fucking business really.

  • You're just staying open-minded, which is a very good thing. Keep it up, there are so few of you left.

I've been arguing this for years I really don't understand it.
But what ticks me off the most is when people call my musical tastes satanic and call me a illuminati. Like have you actually listened to the words or are you too busy being ignorant because it's Rise Against or Kaki King not Lil Wayne or Drake. The fact is there is such a small minority who actually listen to Satanic Rock in this world and you want to generalise/stereotype the whole rock Genre because someone wants to sing about the devil, Look at Jay-Z and Rihanna. You dare want to say in my face that they are not illuminati worshippers BUT you dare to say Foo Fighters & RATM support the devil GTFO!

Out of ALL the people I know, I've been told I have the most unique taste in music. I may only listen to the same 600 songs everyday, but I listen from Bach to Mozart, To Queen to David Bowie, To Funky 4 + 1 to Sugar Hill Gang, to Men Without Hats to Bill Withers, to Tupac to NWA, to Roykopp to Emma Warren, To Foo Fighters to Kaki King, To Adele to Jill Scott, To Lupe Fiasco to Rick Astley, to Sting to Craig David, to Mark Morrison to Tinashe etc, this list is huge and gets a lot bigger, and they have the audacity to say I have a bad taste in music, Friend You haven't fully experienced music IMHO, until you listen and respect so many different and unique genres, styles, musicians and most importantly the audience it was intended for & Performing in front of people and showing you have an actual passion and love for it. For me the truest ways to experience the heart and soul of music.

  • I have a great taste in music, I like lots of genres, bands and unusual/rare music that no one listens to. But some people who like the bad genres, I really get pissed off about. Like people who listen to only rap 24/7 and act like it's a way of life. It makes me feel sorry for them that they can't listen to proper music and can only be entertained by the sound of arrogant people talking in an unintelligent fashion along to an extremely boring backbeat, in some dubious attempt to sound cool. I feel the same way with people who enjoy death metal and grindcore type stuff. Some people listen to tons of it and I have no idea why they find it entertaining.

I mean, once I tried to introduce a brutal death metal fan at school to the Moody Blues, one of the best symphonic rock bands. I played the song Voices in the Sky, their most beautiful song, and this person despised it, because it isn't a brutal cacophony of depressing satanic worship. So annoying T_T

      Hiya,

So do I. I used to be similar, then I grew up. Favourites of mine are only known in small circles, but when my parents were my age they were really popular and everyone listened to them. I don't care that no one my age has heard of them; I know they're good, and that's that.
