When I was 15 I stopped receiving stuff, or presents as you call it, and those days lost the meaning for me... Now that I'm 19 I can't seem to give a single f* whether or not I'll get something or how many people wish me happy birthday. Am I crazy? Or is it normal?
I didnt know Christmas was all about getting? Silly me.
I stopped getting gifts when I was 18 but my mom still acknowledged my b days ... she would bake me my fav cookies or something...or just hang out with me ...watch a movie together... simple things.
She still sends me christmas gifts. I have a gift coming in the mail right now...for me and my daughter from my mom.
im making her a scarf for Christmas but she will get it after the holiday as I wont be done knitting it in time.
Normal. My family was broke growing up and at some point stopped celebrating my birthday for a few years. They tried to cover up the fact that they were broke by saying "you're too old to have your birthday celebrated." Meanwhile, I noticed that all the other kids my age had families that celebrated their birthday's. At some point I started to forget my own birthday and age. I still do to this day. lol.
Some people just don't celebrate stuff like that in the conventual, yet wrong, way.
My family celebrates birthdays just by being together.
I have never received a birthday gift except for that one time when I was 7 and the old lady who farted a lot gave me a bag of rainbow cereal
Same here. It's like... The point in the first place WASNT presents. But when you don't get ANY at all... It really hurts. Makes you lose faith in the people that surround you and call themselves ur friends. I quit caring about my birthday in 7th grade when they named everyone else's birthday in that week but mine, all my friends totally forgot, nobody got me anything. Same with xmas this year. I buy everyfuckingone presents and don't get jack in return. Maybe... One person, texted me merry Xmas. I'm done with people, in general. Fuck them all. Fuck my friends. Self serving pieces of shit.

Maybe they all don't are about it as well, hence you're not getting anything in return :D
But I'm sorry to hear that... That's fucking sad. I don't get anything as well, but I don't get into the effort of giving either...
I can understand why you would stop caring. What I don't understand is why they would stop giving you gifts at a certain age. I'm sincerely hope that they don't expect to receive any gifts from you. My sister and I are in our 40's and my parents are in their 70's and we still have birthday parties, and exchange Christmas gifts. I can't imagine any reason to stop. Sure there have been times when I was broke, and couldn't afford a gift so I would just say thank you for whatever gifts I received.
I enjoy giving and receiving gifts; I see no reason to stop even if someone is in their 90's.
