Is it normal that i do things without thinking and if i works out rationalize

I sometimes do things without thinking and if it works out I give myself reason to why I did it. Such as if I were to jump off a roof on a snowboard (extreme example) and I landed it. I would somehow be like, "Hmmm, I did that for this reason and that." Instead of just admitting to myself that I didn't think.

Head trauma requires hospital time, not computer time.

I guess that's normal. Just be careful, ok? You could seriously end up hurt or dead.

Sounds like self-delusion to me. Rationalising the seemingly irrational.

It's often a way of trying to understand something that appears without explanation, which is a coping mechanism, but can be dangerous when taken to extremes e.g. "I had a dream I fell off my bike, and the next day I fell off my bike... So it must have been a premonition, I must be a prophet and our futures must be preordained!"

However, if you're aware that you're inventing these excuses, you must not entirely believe your own bullshit. Which is good.

  • Yeah its tempting to do that. Sometimes its really just an impulsive decision and you got lucky. But in some cases it can also be intuition and a risk-taking mindset. Risk taking is not necessarily irrational.
