    It's definitely normal! The entire purpose of make up is to make yourself feel great about your self presentation. My wife does the same thing

    I put makeup on my dolls/corpses when I'm feeling down. It's a form of meditation.

    Playing with cosmetics is self care as well as a form of artistic expression. I also agree with what Kingofcarrotflower said about there being comfort in familiar and repetitive tasks.
