For some reason, I didn't actually know that hate towards asians was even a thing, because you never heard them complain about it until now, and everyone in my environment really like them, even people who are racist in general.

Sounds like more media lies to purposefully divide communities. Asians and their culture are generally well respected - coveted even.
There's definietely racism towards asians though i'd say it takes a different form from racism towards black people for example.
There’s racism towards ALL ethnicities but these are isolated incidents and should dealt with as such - on a case by case basis. The problem is nowhere near as widespread and serious as the media make out.
By constantly making it a huge issue the media actually whip up more suspicion and resentment between communities, not less. It’s deliberate subversion in the guise of righteousness. Divided people are easier to control. The youth are sadly the most susceptible to these evil techniques.

Yes, I'm half Colombian, and I wish that I had a $100 for every stupid comment, or joke that has been made to me about cocaine, and drug lords. I also think the way the feast day of Saint Patrick, Saint Patrick's Day, has been turned into a celebration of leprechauns, and people getting drunk off of green beer in the United States is a subtle form of bigotry. Of course there are racist stereotypes about almost all races, nationalities, ethnicities and religions.
I'm against affirmative action for this very reason. Why do asians need 500+ more points on the sat vs african americans?
Asians definitely get made fun of in school the most. The black kids could always fight but the Asian kids were wide open to the small eye little peepee jokes

It's because of COVID-19. There are people who blame every single Asian person on Earth for causing COVID-19 and bringing it over here.
Also china being a legitimate bad guy with all those concentration camps they have. Barely a peep from the media.
Yeah to discriminate based on being Asian is stupid. But there are other things to point to besides covid. Arguably china made everything worse by not disclosing their discoveries to the world.
That's...a very sheltered view. I guess if you live in a community without a lot of diversity, you don't know or see it. That would be understandable to a degree.

I hear that black on Asian crime is pretty high in certain areas but that was also the case during the LA riots, right? Not hard to wonder why the conversation hasn't been brought up until "whitey" could be blamed for racism faced by Asians when up until this point they put "asian" people right next to "white" people when it comes to the whole progressive stack thing.
Also, don't Asians have a higher standard to reach when it comes to getting into higher education as opposed to the "special interest" groups?
