Is it normal that i'd rather sing and drink at my friend's grave than mourn?

So a friend of mine died by drowning on sea when we both were 16, and almost ten years later I use to visit him now and then. But one day I thought, why should I solemnly take flowers to him and pity his absence, when I could drink and sing and be glad because of his memory? You know, a friend of mine has traveled to Mexico and she told me about their Día de Muertos, I found it so beautiful, people going to visit their loved ones in a joyful way, wearing happy clothes, paying homage to them with their favorite foods and songs.
Is it normal that I do the same?

It's a great way to honor the dead, especially if they were a friend. They wouldn't want you mourning.
