Your ideas contain an obvious bias of hatred. Making things more expensive for parents will only make it more difficult for conscientious parents (who wouldn't be breeding like rabbits and handing their kids off to foster care anyway, or having kids they can't feed) to raise children and by that note, removing a large portion of prospective citizens from society.

The problem isn't as simple as You think it is and won't be solved as simply either. As it stands, your solution would only generate a different set of problems.

Less people =/= less problems- better education does. Whether there are 5,000 people or 5,000,000,000, we have invented dangerous ideas that will continue to be dangerous until we are mentally equipped to handle them. Education is mandatory in first world countries, but what are we teaching children, really? We raise hypocrites. 'Care about your environment, kids, while I throw perfectly good paper in this trash'. 'I'm going to smoke and not put out my cigarette when I'm done'. 'I feel like driving to the corner store which is a 5 minute bike ride'. People need incentive to change their minds, not their existence. Again though, incentive- not force. There's no reason you can't appeal to people's softer side. People do care, they're just overwhelmed. But there's a problem for another day.

Oh my gosh, I have the exact same thoughts! I agree almost completely to everything you just stated. But it's so hard to share my thoughts with the world, because they always get offended. And in addition to what you said, I think that some people just shouldn't have children in general. For example, people with bad health, genetics, income, mental problems, or just unfit to be a parent. Unfortunately, this probably would never happen, unless if humans use all sustainable resources available. Even then, I think the human race would probably kill of all(or most) of everything else, and in turn, causing mass chaos, and leading to the death of many, maybe even a full on apocalypse. I doubt humans will be smart enough to stop this. They will be too angry about not having equal rights, etc, etc...

why on earth would poverty stricken miserable families both in third world countries and non third world countries continue to have multiple children which adds compound stress and brings children to a miserable "we cant afford to feed or clothe you" world. why must they suffer and be subject to limited sources/a lesser quality of life. I think it's strange when people choose to have many kids because of over population but America is the best country in the world because it's free. People should be able to choose to have an abortion, big families or no family. I do not think the gov't should make a law on what woman do with their bodies.

I agree with the 1 child law, somewhat. I think there should be a one pregnancy, one birth law. So, one kid or twins or triplets etc could be allowed in special cases like that.
