Is it normal that i believe people should only work at jobs they'll enjoy?

I know how hard it can be to find a job/stay employed but what irks me to no end is the fact that there are many people who only want jobs that'll pay well or incomes that reach into the 6-digit mark. I believe that people should only work in jobs they know that they'll enjoy doing and not get involved in the work industry if they're only after money. Sure, money can help a HUGE amount in one's life but it's not everything. If people work jobs that they'll like, then they'll be happy and they'll never have to truly work a day in their lives.

Because of the fact that alot of people don't do this, there's many unhappy employees and cruddy services given to customers.

As a ending note (or afterthought, if you will), I'm not employed yet but when I start working, I'll become a baker because that's one of the things I enjoy doing the most.

Who's going to do the crap jobs like collecting garbage and fixing the sewers under your system? There have to be jobs where money is the only incentive or they just won't get done. You need to think things through a bit more and lose the rose colored glasses.

"cruddy services given to customers" is not often a result of people unhappy with their jobs but because some people are cruddy and unhappy regardless

I think that anybody who is in the financially fortunate position of being able to choose their career, or even if they have one, should do so. I'm tired of hearing things from people like "everyone should aspire to be better at what they do" or "everyone should work harder to try get that promotion" because truth is, not everyone's life revolves around work and careers and financial success.

Ofcourse I'm not naïve, and I am fully aware that without money we're all screwed, but I'm simply saying that people shouldn't make their lives miserable just to try make more money or have a more socially acceptable job than the next person.

Now I'm new to this site, and came across a post a couple days ago, about some douchebag stating that all women or men who are home makers or stay at home wives/husbands are incredibly lazy and are only doing so to try get a free ride in life and live off the backs of their partner. This is alovely example, because I believe that these days, the world is way too focused on money, careers, and success in the work place.

So much so, that aparantly a human being is only a decent human being if they are employed. I find that shockingly closed minded and even though I disagree with laziness, I found it absolutely bizarre that someone could actually think that way.

What happened to doing what makes you happy?

This is a very convincing argument. Your friends are extremely fortunate to have you as a friend.

I have been running after money for the last 2 years. Even though I have been somewhat successful, lately my last year has been totally shit. I have fucked my mind by constantly thinking I should not be doing this, this is not what I should do.

I should get out of this and start doing what I like even if I get paid less. It has almost been an year since I had fully laughed.

Moreover with this constant thinking, self-scolding and not taking action I have made my life hell.

A good job that makes you happy should be earned. Nobody should be able to just get what they want or else they'll never realize how much they wanted it. This means everyone should start out with a cruddy job. I have to see an individual who has always had it great understand how truly great they have it. How can you know beauty if you have no ugly to compare it to?
