Is it normal that i believe humans going extinct would be a good thing?

Just think about it for a minute: No more pollution, no more war or conflict, no more cutting down forests, no more endangered and extinct species, no more global warming, nature recooperating after dealing with us for so long, no more urbanization, no more hunting and slaughtering of animals by mankind, no more corruption, bigotry, sexism, and racism, and no more excessive breeding by us (the billions of people who have 2+ kids valuing their DNA more than the future of the planet).

All those things are only bad due to the meaning we give them as thinking beings. Humanity not being around takes all meaning out of those things and the universe and therefore cannot be seen as good or bad. It's by its nature neutral event.

Ah look, the monthly misanthropic, humanphobic post! Right on time!

We are natural organisms, our behaviour is animal behaviour, we have as much right to be here and do what we do as any other animal.

Why not hope for a smaller, more sustainable population like a sensible person, instead of willing us all to drop down dead?

The only reason you care about the environment and are bothered by certain human behaviour is because it is human nature to care. We care because we want to live and live well, and we can't do that without the planet we're a part of. But hoping for the extinction of our species is valuing all other life above human life, and runs contrary to our natural instinct for self-preservation. You are essentially saying we are worthless. That we deserve to die.

Well, you might be worthless. In my opinion, there are a lot of wonderful people in the world and whilst we as a species are an unwieldy, powerful and ubiquitous presence that doesn't always get it right (by our own definition of right), I like humanity, we are amazing animals and an incredibly successful product of evolution, of the nature of Earth. I hope we continue :)

Pfffttttt. Don't tell what to think about with a time limit of a minute!

    1. Pollution will always be a problem because cows fart.

    2. War and conflict exists among all animals. Haven't you heard what's going on between the crocodiles and pygmy marmosets in the amazon basin??? Jeez, get with it.

    3. Deforestation will continue thanks to the beavers.

    4. Natural selection causes extinction and endangerment.

    5. The sun will keep warming the globe.

    6. Earth heals itself with high quality medicinal laughter.

    7. Concrete jungle for the ghetto fabulous animals.

    8. Animals hunt and slaughter animals. Always have, always will.

    9. Blah blah blah yes uh-huh sexist, racist, corrupt, over breeding, are you still talking?

    10. Go away.

i cant tell if youre serious..... but trees definately grow faster the beaver destroy them, however the real issue is that the plug up rivers and streams. cows dont really pollute at such a rate we do however even if we stopped polluting it would take a long time for the earth to "heal", the theory of global warming is mostly about the earths ozone. i could go on but honestly i have doubts youre serious so ill just leave it at that (dont even know why i started commenting in the first place).

  • You know, I am actually getting irritated by these posts. So many people are doing it, and I can't help but sit there and think it is a trend to seem "cool", "deep", and/or "unique", so much so that everyone doing it just seems the exact same (not very unique, then).

You know, I disagree. Yes, we face problems, we have multiple problems in the world, and yes - we caused them. However, we have also caused a lot of good, we have also caused expansion, we have also made intelligence an existence, and we are not done progressing.
We are a species that are now trying to see if life is sustainable on other planets, so we are exploring the universe, we will one day no longer be restricted to our natural habitat. We have made things possible that other species couldn't even comprehend, and we are still progressing.

There is so much beauty in our species, and yes, there is the ugly aswell, however the beauty outweighs it.

Is it normal to want to kill the people who want to kill all the peoples?
    Just sayin'

Yeah people create damage simply by living. However so do other creatures. However I myself am irritated when humans seem to walk into their own destruction. Humans have got to be the only creatures on the planet who give a shit about prey, how they effect the environment, and willingly do things they know will kill them. So don't worry OP many of us are killing ourselves already be it purposely or not.

Hey, I'm with you 100%. What right do we have to destroy this planet and the environment of so many other species?
Mankind (and women too, for you feminists) are a blight on this planet and mother earth would certainly be immensely happy at our demise!
Here's hoping that the next "super bug" will eradicate about 90% of us. What a wonderful world that would be!

Have you heard about this idea called "Evil-Lotion" proposed by a guy who named himself after a famous town in northern Australia (or maybe twas t'other way aroond)? Anyway, imagine if humans became extinct, why would the Earth become this "utopia" you describe? What would stop any other advanced species like apes from evolving and taking our place? Whether you like it or not, the world will never be the utopia you think it should be.

Being misanthropic is pretty common, and honestly I get where you're coming from. If people stopped existing there would be no wars and all that you said. However, think about all things you would be missing out on, you wouldn't be able to have interesting conversations, sex, or enjoy any luxuries. Why? Because you'd be dead and don't think of that as a small price to pay for a seemingly pure world. If you want to find an unspoiled world go on a nature walk. There is still beauty in this world and there are plenty of people who try to maintain that beauty. Also, the whole world isn't full of assholes, I'm sure that one day you'll learn that. The world can be a dark place sometimes, but it can also be bright and full of incredible events. Try not to look at the world through a gloomy set of glasses, but try seeing it with a rose colored tint, because sometimes humanity may surprise you with kindness and love. Humanity may have its bad qualities but there are plenty of good aspects to it as well.
