Is it normal that i am single and only able to attract ineligible women?

I have been a single male for over 12 years. I like women and would like to be in a relationship, however I have a problem with shyness, so most single women don't give me a second glance.

I do have several ineligible female friends who I am comfortable with, thus I am not shy around them. I have repeatedly with several of them had to push them away because they are involved with somebody else and had become attracted to me in a way that is not appropriate for someone who is already involved with someone else. (NO, I will NOT take advantage of that situation...I will NOT be that guy.)

This has become a problem with my attempts to begin relationships with eligible women because it has become such a habit of automatically pushing back any attempts at a romance that I end up doing it with the single women I like! I realize what I have done only when it's too late. Help!

    ...it may be hard to believe, but Virgil Manly was also a single male for over twelve years. It all changed when he turned 13 and puberty set in.

    Seriously I agree with not having sexy time with a woman who is in a relationship. If she cheats on them, she'll cheat on you. Other than that I'm all tapped out of cliched helpful advice. It's the best I can do Sorry.

    You really need a game plan. For instance; choose a girl you would like to go out with. Check out comedy clubs in your area and choose one with a good, not too dirty mouthed comic.
    Comedy clubs are a great first date. The comedians do the talking and entertaining, so you can avoid much of that first date conversation awkwardness They serve food and drinks, so it can be a complete dinner/entertainment date w/o all the drama of choosing a restaurant that suits both of your tastes. If the evening goes well, a very classy thing to do is go somewhere for a fancy desert and coffee after the club.
    Get creative and do not fall into the night club, BORING, noisy, drinking, dating thing. The zoo, for a Saturday afternoon second date. There are so many things to do with a woman that don't include loud music and drinking and drunk people. You can always bring a bottle of wine and a picnic basket to any outdoor activity.
    Like anything else, you will have to apply yourself and put as much thought into dating as you would anything else you want to do. Women are easy; they like to laugh, they like a guy with a sense of humor, they like a guy who can make a decision (like going to a comedy club) and they like to be treated with kindness and respect, but they do not appreciate a spineless wimp.
    Keep your back straight, display your very best smile and try to remember that most girls are just as nervous as you are, when you are asking them out for the first time.

        Simple; go where the girls will surely have similar interests as you. If you love animals, volunteer at an animal shelter a few days a week. If you love boating, join a sailing club (fishing is probably not a winner here), or biking, or climbing or, heaven forbid; sky diving. You get the idea. Go take some classes in the arts; acting, pottery or painting. There's always lots of girls in art classes, and most of the guys are gay, so you're miles ahead.
