Is it normal that i am going to use lemon juice to help lighten my hair?

Also My hair used to have natural bleached blond streaks on the sides and now it's all one color that I find boring and am very disappointed that it has changed. I have been told that my hair has a tinge of strawberry blonde which I think yuck! Anyways is it possible to get my natural high lights back by using lemon juice. I have already used it about 6 times and sat in the sun for 30 mins or even more and it has gotten lighter but not to the point where i can see highlights. In different lights it looks a little orangy when it's not. Please help?

Thats ok, i understand. I too have natural sun bleached streaks. I would miss them if they were gone. I hope you've made progress in relieving yours :)

        • aw thanks, yeah well there is definitely an improvement as it's lighter around the sides, but I don't think it's the same bleached look, id say more light yellow

Straight lemon juice from a actual lemon mixed with cooking white vinagar. Let it sit for 20 min while in sunlight. Then wash your hair and condition in mayonaise.
Im natural auburn, but i like to add blonde highlights at times.

Yes it does. You need find the perfect balance for your hair type. Thin, fine, thick, or coarse hair different measuring amounts needed. This is a 1960s treatment my mother introduced me to. Im sure if you type home remedy hair treatments it will wrk. The mayonaise is an awesome moisturizer. Good luck!

I'm a very dirty blonde but when I was a kid I had light blonde hair. I got tired of sometimes being mistaken for a brunette so I go this John Freida lightening shampoo and conditioner and it really does work, after only like a week! I also heard Sun-In works, and I tried like juice one time because we didnt have lemon juce and I would not reccomend it lol.

    • oh yeah, same happened to me sadly, though it is much lighter due to the lemon juice so it does work to a certain degree however, just ordinary juice wouldn't work lol but good try. Do u reckon that I can get that John Freida in New Zealand as I live here? Also does it enhance your hair color or does it artificially lighten it, as I don't want to do that by artificial means..?

You know I'm not completely sure if they sell in New Zealand but I'm absolutely sure that if you pay a visit to a beauty supply store you'll be able to find something similar. And the active ingredient in the Shampoo I use is hydrogen peroxide, same thing that makes lemon juice highlight your hair.

        • ok thanks :), though i disagree with the fact that hydrogen peroxide is also in lemon juice as it is poisonous... O.o

Its normal. I once used sun-in, which at some point in time contained lemon juice, I am not sure if it still does, though, I used it for awhile and my hair was temporally turned to a strong reddish colour.

I'm not 100% certain what it was before I used Sun-in. When I'm indoors my hair tends to look dark brown but in the sunlight its reddish-brown with a few blonde strands.

        • ok fair enough, i think that sun in works best wen you already have blonde hair and are trying to lighten it
