Is it normal that i am constantly stressed and cry several times a month?

I am constantly stressed out. Lately, I've started taking my pulse and for a young f, it's high (usually 80, sometimes bounces between 90 and 60 though.) I am in an incredible loving relationship, have the best family, am great at what I love to do and am succeeding in college. But I still become overwhelmed every couple of weeks, am stressed each day, and worry incessantly about things that do and do not matter. I cry often, sometimes not even sure what I'm crying about. I hate to drive and park because it's just another stressor- I've almost ended up in tears from driving and parking experiences. My mom suggested trying anxiety meds. I don't know what to do. I'm not at all suicidal, I'm not depressed as far as I know. I am just so SO stressed and worried. Is it normal? Do I have an anxiety disorder?

My advice is to consult with a doctor, I had a similar situation and it was due to a hormonal imbalance. The minute I got the right treatment things changed and of course exercise always help liberate all the stress and anxiety. Hope things turn out well for you.

That sounds like generalized anxiety disorder. You can see a therapist about that. Usually, they will prescribe you medication (most likely an SSRI). Make sure you speak to the doctor about any other medications you may be taking and any history of illness or preexisting conditions (especially psychiatric conditions in your extended family, like bipolar disorder).

What you have is most likely a chemical imbalance. It doesn't make you crazy in any way...it's a physical problem, and this is no different than treating any other physical problem. What you are doing is the equivalent of not going to the doctor for a broken leg, and just hoping it gets better on it's own. You don't have to live like this!
