I don't want to lie to people, but I have an awful fear of people getting mad at or being disappointed in me. It makes me lie about stupid things and when I get caught people think they can't trust me, but I would never lie about anything that matters, just this small stuff that keeps unecessary fights away.

If people start fights with you when you express your honest opinions, then it sounds like they're either very immature, or you've got some pretty obnoxious opinions.

You shouldn't feel bad about it since you have pure intentions, but maybe take up some acting classes or decide more wisely whether or not it's essential to lie in order to stop having people lose their trust in you.
