Is it normal that i always feel slightly guilty when listening to chris brown?

Whenever I listen to Chris Brown I always feel a little bit bad or guilty because of what happened Rihanna, but I really like the songs not necessarily him.

Like I like his music but I don't want to support someone who hurts women

anyone feel the same?

I quit listening to him...I like a person with morals. If he had choked her a minute longer or hit her a bit harder and she died would it be ok then? Would it still be, "eh, that's just the past"? What if it was done to your mom/sister/girlfriend? So a person that has committed rape is ok as well because that's the past? How about a child molester or murderer? That cool too? People are so easily star struck that they will excuse almost anything...luckily we all aren't weak minded. Good for you for thinking about your morals.

  • I never listened to his music, but I have wondered if the people who did stopped after he beat the shit out of her. He didn't really seem remorseful either, just sorry that he got caught, and angry that nobody felt sorry for him.

I wouldn't want to listen to his music because I would feel like I was supporting that kind of violence.

i sorta see what u mean. i feel the same way about the lead singer of the band boys like girls. i still like their songs..their first album is pretty amazing. but i've heard all kinds of rumors about martin johnson (sexual assault, drugs, fights, playing shows drunk/high, etc). so i've lost major respect for him.

and yeah, some of c-brown's songs are good, but i hate what he did to his gf.

If there was evidence against MJ...and he was convicted I would have never played a song of his again. You can't use him as a comparison when the law is "guilty until proven innocent" and he was proven innocent. As for the comment about "what if she had beat him?"...then I wouldn't listen to her either. I arrested lots of women for domestic violence. Wrong is wrong. It takes more strength to stick to your morals and be a "good person". More should try it.

  • There's nothing wrong with liking his music, I for instance like Roman Polanski's movies. Brown and Polanski are still great artists and I think people should just enjoy their work without letting their personal lives getting in the way.

I'm guessing this one is going to split the men and the women. It leads to a couple of extra questions, though. If the positions had been reversed and he'd been the victim of domestic violence at the hands of Rihanna, how many people would stop listening to her music? Why one rule for one gender and a different rule for another?

The second question is why so few people stopped listening to Michael Jackson and The Who despite the evidence of paedophilia?

I understand that a man attacking a woman is disgusting. What I don't understand is why it provokes a stronger reaction than a man raping a child.
