Is it normal that i actually want people to forget it's my birthday?

ever since i was little i'd never mention my birthday with hopes that everyone would forget it was my birthday (they never did)... it seems pretty messed up. anyways, this year i'm planning on asking my family and close friends for a favor - this year, forget it's my birthday. no presents, no celebratory meals, no "happy birthday"s, nothing. planning to spend the day alone in some bookstore or coffee shop. just want to know if i'm alone in the world on this or not

    Why do you want this?

I don't like much attention on my birthday. I find it uncomfortable. Especially, if it's like on Facebook, and it's congratulatory remarks from people I don't talk to.

Exchange of presents is also something I don't do, but that's a different thing.

i'm the quiet kid; loner, introverted, hate being the centre of attention, or when people make a big deal out of something small, etc.

        That makes sense.

I'm guessing you don't like all the attention? Neither do I. Especially when I was younger and everybody sang. I found that a bit creepy.

I don't understand birthday presents. "Congratulations you lived another year lets buy you something!" I don't get it.

i want peopl to forget my birthday because it brings up what I call false memories, people puttin happy faces on past events so they can feel better about themselves. I like celebrating my birthday and I am happy to do it, but I perfer to do it alone

Yeah, I want that too. But if there are people who remember your birthday, you should be happy. It means they care. I hate birthdays too, even if my friends and family celebrate it, for me its just another normal day and nothing special about it. I just pretend to be happy to atleast give some effort for my birthday. There are people who will always remember your birth month and you cant avoid them.

i get you. It's hard to feel like birthdays are significant when everyone has one and there are so many of us in the world.
