Is it normal that i actually listened to and enjoyed a justin bieber album?
One day I was bored on the Internet, and out of sheer curiosity, I decided to listen to Justin Bieber's "My World 2.0" album on YouTube. I just thought it would be an unusual way to waste time; something different for a laugh. After all, Justin Bieber is despised all over the Internet and it's now become "cool" to automatically hate his music, so I thought I'd be a bit rebellious and and listen to the album just to see what all the fuss is about.
And I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually enjoyed listening to the album. I usually hate modern pop music (especially the music from Glee, which drives me nuts), but for some reason I found myself listening to the entire 37 minutes. I certainly wouldn't call it a good album (because let's face it, it's Justin Bieber), but nor would I call it a bad album either. It's certainly a lot better than any album by Nicki Minaj or an angry, potty-mouthed gangsta rap group. Also, the album had a childlike innocence to it, which made it somewhat pleasant. I opened my mind, stepped into the shoes of the album's target audience, and took it all in, and to be honest, I was surprised. It really wasn't that bad.
Also, please don't instantly judge me or my taste in music. Music is my passion and I actually have a very diverse taste in music, and I am a professional progressive rock keyboardist to go along with that. Music is my life, and I listened to the album as a curious experience, not for entertainment purposes. Usually I would steer clear from teen pop because I really hate it (as well as rap music and a few other genres), but it felt strangely satisfying to venture out of my comfort zone and listen to something I'd never normally listen to just for the hell of it.
