Ever since I was about twelve years old I’ve been turned on by knives and other sharp or weapon like things. I get turned on every time I pick up a knife as well. I like my boyfriend to hold a knife to my throat during sex. Is it normal that this turns me on?

It's fairly normal in the sense that it's considered a paraphilia and not a paraphilic disorder. The latter causes distress/impairment or requires the infliction of harm to others/self. From a psychological perspective, it could be explained as a kink arising from power and control, which is typical of bdsm. Sadomasochism is one of the more common kinks that is still considered just outside of the realm of normal.
