Is it normal that female class colleagues react this way upon seeing me?

I finished school two years ago. when I meet my male class mates in the street, they're usualy very friendly and we talk for a while, even though sometime we are not close, but when I meet the female ones, they always just stare at me awkwardly and keep walking.

I think it is normal if they don't stop and say hi, but the abnormal staring is weird. This have been happening for the last 3 years.

    My girlfriends have been telling me since high school how vicious we girls can be to each other. Most of my friends are guys, but the girls I have as friends are laid back with everybody. I picked them for that reason. I do notice this cattiness in other circles among girls--especially at other schools. I don't know why it persists. Competition? Insecurity? I also notice guys can be total pricks to each other, even though they're usually really nice to girls. Or at least to the girls they think are hot.

    Sad to say, I do think your experience of girl-on-girl animosity is normal. Good luck.
