Is it normal that father is kind with other kids but his own?

My dad is very kind and playful with other kids like the kids of niece and nephew, and my uncles kids, but not me and my brother. I have always wondered why he do this. Like if he is talking to us on the phone he cursing and talking with mean and angry tone, but doesnt do it with other kids in my family. He is always angry at us, and want us to stay in our room and study. He never smiles at us but does it with other kids. When ever i see him with other kids its like he is he happiest man on earth, he will joke and play with them. He never played or joked with us when we were kids.
Have any one else fathers like this? Any fathers here who want to say something?

    Maybe you guys did something horrible to him when you were kids, something too horrific for him to talk about.
    Just kidding...Actually my dad is kinda like that as well. But I ignore it. A joke is the last thing I expect from him, which is quite ironic cause my mom once told me that she married him cause he was a humorous guy with an interesting personality. From that day I lost faith in my mom's sense of judgment.

      I'm actually on the mighty porcelain throne right now at this very moment! What of it, my friend of fecal fascination? I just ate some cereal and yogurt and I'm brewing a lovely, blond roast, Colombian, vanilla coffee so there could very well be more time at stool to come.       I have tried doing that but he never say anyting back (hes always quite on this subject). So i think he knows he does it but dosent know why he does it.
      Well thats why i came here to ask in the first place. :/
