They used to be just reinstated in the same position they were posted. Why do they get to come back to the front? is it normal this annoys me? So now instead of new posts the front page is flooded with sexual/troll bullshit that was already reported for being shit.
I noticed it and thought I was having déjà vu. It is kind of annoying that they keep reappearing.
With power and hope, hit the report button without giving up and wish for the peace of IIN once more. We can do it.
It can be annoying seeing an obviously fake post make it back from moderation. There's really not much one can do about it though.
Yea but to me that is a completely different problem. That is an issue with the moderator doing a poor job. But its there site and rules so if they want to approve lousy posts its their prerogative I guess. But the policy of putting them on top as I explained it below I still think is a fair one.
That change was made years ago, there is actually an old post that I read where someone asked for the change and Udi respond that he thought it was a good idea. It was from back in the day when Udi did such things. I will also say that though I may not agree with all the posts, I agree with the policy.
The reason is that the posts were never "deleted". I realize form post and complaints I read here that a lot of people don't understand this, but they are only put aside for review. The posts are not pre moderated. Except for a few exceptions, they go up right away without being reviewed. But if other users report the post it is taken down and sent to Awaiting Moderation for review, not "deleted".
If the moderator agrees with the report, then the post gets deleted. But if the moderator decides the post is OK, it goes back on the list. But it can take the moderator sometimes 2 or 3 days to review. Because the posts are listed in the order they were created, posts that get put back where they first started can get completely buried under the newer posts.
If the post get reported fairly quickly and the OP didn't gat a chance to get any or many responces before it was sent to moderation, it is not really fair to the OP if they didn't actually break any rules. So to give the post a fair chance to get responces, once the moderator decides the post is good, they place it back at the top. To me that seems fair.
It's not only troll posts that get reported so it would be pretty shitty for any real/interesting posts to be sent all the way back to page 2 or 3 after moderation just because some dipwad reported it.
