Is it normal that anime makes me emotional?

When something bad happens in the anime I feel emotional and cry? I have to stop watching and I will be sad for a while. It just makes me sick. This time it was over the main character's parents who died and it just makes me cry. It's all made up but I still cry and get depressed. It's just unfair you know?

    Yea there are a lot of popular anime that have dark and depressing themes
