Is it normal that alcohol no longer makes me feel good?

Ok so I used to have a lot of fun drinking, like socially. Alcohol used to make me loosen up, have more fun, laugh more, I don't know, it just made me feel good in general. Nowadays when I drink I just feel dizzy and irritaded (also I still few shy when drunk now, weird). I mean does anyone know if there is any reason for alcohol suddenly just being boring and annoying? I used to love drinking and partying and nowadays it's just a pain in the ass.

Btw, I take benzos and antidepressants every other day for 'bout 1 year and a half, but the problem with drinking started some months ago.
And sorry for the mediocre english! Thanks for reading.

The benzos probably have something to do with it, but also it could just be that it's just not as fun for you any more. It gets boring after a while really. Try drinking more occasionally and if it still isn't any better, consider asking your doctor about how the drugs might be affecting your ability to have a social life.

You're probabaly just growing up, and you're body is getting more and more tired. Try having long breaks between drinking and maybe your body wont combine alcohol with something negative.

How about you stop drinking while taking benzodiazepines? That's a great way to fall into a coma and die.

But I only take them when I know I'm not driking/going out

  • Benzodiazepines are cross tolerant to alcohol because they both effect GABA receptors. Hopefully you do not drink and take benzos together at the same time because that is just asking for trouble. Your body is probably building a tolerance to the alcohol and that is why it does not feel the same or as "good" like it used to.
