Is it normal that 90s rap is my fav music, even though i'm a white girl?

I grew up listening to whatever my older brother was listening to, which was mostly gangsta rap, hip hop, and rnb. I hated every other kind of music until I was about 9 years old. I can still remember singing TLC "waterfalls" on the playground with my friends in 2nd grade. My old mixtapes on cassettes with coolio, sir mix a lot, dr dre, snoop, too $hort, 2pac... Etc etc. I've tried to listen to this new rap, but I just think most of its a bunch of crap. Sometimes I think it's weird that I'll be rapping along to every word of songs that you wouldn't see a white girl usually listening to. 2pac is by far my fav artist. So poetic. I love it. And I feel like I can relate to a lot of his songs. I came from a bad home life, seen friends die, shit like that. Just cuz my friends weren't killed by gang violence don't mean I can't relate to the same pain. So is it weird?

Many white people like 90's rap. It actually involved some level of skill and originality back then.

I think it's great that you listen to the music because you enjoy it. I know people who listen to rap for image purposes rather than enjoyment, and their black.

Yeah I know what you mean. Sometimes people get mad cuz they'll be listening to a rap song and I'll be like "really? You like this? Do you even listen to the lyrics?". I always listen to the lyrics and figure out the meaning of songs but apparently most people only want a good beat and they're happy.

The number 1 rule of music when it comes to different music styles, in my opinion, is that music is music. Rap in that time made you feel good with a soothing deep melody and lyrics with some kind of story about life that made you relate and feel good about yourself no matter what negativity is going on. Anyone is free to listen to whatever they want regardless of skin color. Rap these days tries to follow the feel good formula but I personally don't agree its the same if you have to include guns, intentional drugs and being a manwhore to do it.

You should be listening to pop, rock, or country. White girls don't listen to rap. If they do, they end up associating with the wrong kinds of guys and have 5 kids on welfare and food stamps.

Lol I've always been curious about having sex with a black dude. Just thinking about it makes me feel naughty and wet, like I need to just hop on a dick right now! But unfortunately I'm married. Sorry

The person who introduced me to old school hardcore gangster rap (that couldn't even played on the radio) was a girl who had skin the color of milk. The person who introduced it to her? A Korean guy. This was a very long time ago.

Good music knows no ethnic boundaries.

I know every race can like any music, but people always seem shocked when they find out I love old school rap. I was at a festival with my cousin when we were like 13, and the guy operating the ride we were on was playing 2pac. We sang the song "changes" from start to finish, and when we got off the ride, these black kids that were in front of us were like "how do you know about 2pac?? You're white! That's crazy". I think it's funny.
