Is it normal tha i remember facts right away but it takes me weeks to remember?

For as long as I can remember , it has always been hard for me to remember things like names ,directions, spellings, snd sometimes even the direction lower case b and d face or what direction s is suppossed to go or a 7 and one time i forgot how to spell did.But despite all that I can remember clearly facts and history well basically anything thing I read.I remember storys clearly I can tell you the whole greek creation myth that i learned in 6th grade I can tell all about minerals fossils the earth core ocean currents current events I could tell you a long detailed history on america.world war one and two please i got those down pact after 8th grade.

Why can I do all that but it took me five months to learn my friends name and i still dont know some my closist friends names or im still unsure.

is it normal to be like this to remember complicated things but not simple things?

I think your more likely to remember what you find more interesting...your friends must have really boring names like Ted, Fred and Jed lol

I can still remember 8th grade science, but don't ask me the names of classmates whom I've only known for 2 weeks.

Having this some is normal, but it sounds like you have it more than most people. If you're concerned, talk to a doctor about it.

I'm the opposite. It sucks. I'm a plethora of useless information but all the things I want to remember, I can't. I'm not an idiot but I sure seem like one. :( I love learning new things and knowing things from the past but my memory just wont allow. Bastard brain

Memory is strange and this is completely normal. Remembering facts and remembering names etc. may sound similar, but they aren't. Just read a Wikipedia page on memory or something, this is fairly simple psychology, it shouldn't take long:).
