Is it normal person knows i use the site-- what should i do?

I was reading something from a newspaper article to a close family member, and despite it being completely unrelated to the topic they asked if what was from that 'is it normal site'. They played dumb and did not say that they knew I use the site, but they must do. What are the chances of someone so close to me also finding this site? It was easy to see through, and they must have invaded my privacy or found it while using my computer or some such thing. I feel uncomfortable using the site as I value my anonymity. I don't know what to do now. Any advice?

  • I've actually refered quite a few people from real life here and personally know a couple users here. Everyone in my real life already knows I'm a weirdo anyways.

Make a new account if it causes too much discomfort.

    1. Change your account name and password.
    2. Put a password on your computer and do not leave it on or open on certain pages whilst you are away.
    3. Put these new passwords somewhere safe.
    etc.

There is a chance that this person doesn't know that you use the site. Just, to be extra safe, stay on your toes and be vigilant. Try not to act suspicious.

They don't know you use the site, they are only aware of the site.

We're all aware of Google but do you really know what I search for despite us both having heard of Google?

    • Google = everyone has heard of it

Is It Normal = obscure website that most people don't know

I understand that relative obscurity might make you feel more exposed.

You know this is a website. There is a chance they would stumble upon it. It can be found a number of ways like maybe asking "Is it normal..." Oh look a website. If they know you use the site they might not know your user. maybe they saw you on the computer or typing it on your phone. Its silly to think you are so special you are not the only one here. People stumble across it.

A friend I had on Facebook shared a post on this site once. It was someone I didn't know awfully well so they couldn't possibly have known I use IIN, but it kind of freaked me out because it was unexpected.

As long as you're not logged in, I don't see why that person would find out what you post :P Delete history if possible! I'd be a little mortified if my family found out what I commented on or posted!

Okay, it depends on what site. If it's on Google images or something, not so easy to 'erase' it. But if it's something like this, I would delete my account and make another. But I wouldn't be worried too much over it ... ;)

Just stop. You make yourself look like a bitch if you carry on. Just revel in the fact that you still have the internet, and post what you want to who you want.

    Basically, GROW SOME BALLS!

Chances are your friend uses the site and doesn't want you to discover their IIN identity either.

I do tell my close friends about this site and hope they use it, but at the same time I don't want to interact with them on here. If I see a post that I think a friend might have written I try to avoid it. I just hope they find it as helpful and entertaining as I do.

  • I don't think it matters much. I mean it's just IIN.

If people I know found out I use this site, I'd stop using it. Simple as that.
