Is it normal people telling you the price of the gift they bought you?

It's happened on plenty occasions. Someone will give me a gift, then tell me exactly how much it cost them.

Is this a normal thing people do? I was brought up to keep the cost of a gift you've bought someone a secret, which is usually done by blacking out or removing the price entirely.

These people have not only left it on, but also told me the price of it verbally! I have hard enough a time reacting properly to gifts, and this really throws me off. I'm not sure if it's right to feel guilt when it happens, but hell, I do.

It's a pretty classless thing to do, and I don't understand why anyone would do it.

I was going to say tacky, but same difference. People do it though.

I don't even like how cards have the price printed on the back of them. I would be mortified if I gave a gift that I forget to remove the price tag from.

The people telling you how much they paid for a gift are braggarts. They're showing you how awesome they are because they don't think you already know.

If say me and somebody are exchanging gifts I'll set a price limit although I always try to go over it slightly but that's the only circumstance I would find acceptable.
