Is it normal people say weed does not impair them?

I am pro-marijuana and smoke it on occasion, but I do not know why people claim it helps them so much. It makes sense that it can work as a pain killer and possibly other things, but some claim it causes them no impairments and even say it helps them function better. Many have claimed it causes no driving impairments either. Another claim is that it makes people more creative. I wonder if it is effecting me differently or if people are unaware of its effects. I will mention some impairments I notice. It highly distorts my senses and perceptions, which is an obvious impairment for driving, or most other things; it impairs my short term memory, often I forget what I am doing or saying as it is happening; and it makes it harder to hold onto thoughts.
Also I am a musician, artist and writer and drugs have never made me more creative. If you need drugs to be creative, you are not being creative.

It seems people use these excuses as reasons to justify their marijuana use. I like to smoke it sometimes as well, but I will admit it does not help me with anything and I only do it for fun.

Marijuana impairs your brain function therefore you cannot be MORE creative or focused or anything else whilst on it.

The creativity people speak of are those slow impulses to the brain causing them to stop and catch up to themselves, like reflecting on one thing for more time than what is normally needed.

As a strong weed smoker for about the age from 19 to 24 or thereabouts, I realized it was only there for fun nothing else. Once I realized I could have just as much or more fun without it, I stopped.

Yea i agree with the creative thing. Weed doesn't make you more creative, you already are it's just your racing thoughts keeping you from focusing. Weed just helps you relax and are more focused on what you are doing.. but then will forget what you're doing in 10 mins hahaha.

        True.

I think that creative thingy was in the 69 Woodstock era where people didn't just smoke weed but used LSD and cocaine and acid etc. Seeing colors going round in circles may be somewhat creative minded but not a depressant like weed. What weed does is makes you do nothing and veg.

weed can make you creative, but sometimes the stuff you write/produce is just too out there and strange to really be productive. it depends on the stuff and your mindset, but it definitely can make you more creative i don't care what people say

Every person that I've met that says "weed doesn't affect me like that." I can tell is high. I've seen my friend get into 3 fucking car accidents while driving high. Every fucking car he's had has been wrecked because he wasn't able to act properly or ran a red light. They have no emotions or filter. They just say whatever they want or do whatever they want with no regards for others and become selfish. (quite annoying when they smoke all day everyday and turn into this person) the obvious munchies, laughing etc. Like honestly i don't like people that are high all day every day, but every once in a while if they smoke or as a social smoker that's fine. But do it all the time you're a fucking lazy ass zombie that eats all my damn food.
I've also met a guy that became schizophrenic from smoking too much. Idk if it's because it was laced or what. But he said it was right after he tried it he started hearing and seeing things while high, and he thought that was normal for weed. But he still hears and sees things daily. He says multiple voices talk to him and tell him to do certain things.

Everyone reacts differently to everything i guess.

Marijuana is a majical herb that shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as drugs like heroine, cocaine, meth, etc. It has hardly any serious/lastings side effects, isn't really addictive and I can tell you from experience that it can improve things. Like, sex feels better, music is more enjoyable, I get more creative and better at playing instruments and cooking. I mean, it's not for everyone, but that's true of most things. It's simply ignorance and misinformation that keeps people thinking it's some dangerous drug that needs to be illegal.

    • I never said it is that bad. Its legal here and I voted it to be legal. I just think it causes cognative impairments while high, which I don't know why people say it doesn't.

I am pro-pot, but I hardly ever drink alcohol.

I agree, drugs (and alcohol) may affect people differently. To some, it may hardly do anything, to others that same drug could make them 'too high'.

There are so many strains and varieties of weed, with new hybrids being created all the time. Each has their own similar, but unique taste, and potency.

I'll admit, I've smoked for a longer time than I should probably admit. (Lol) I've had some that makes me completely lazy and brainless. (aka wheelchair pot) I've had others that gets me energized and really gets my imagination and creativity going. I think the affects depend on both the person, and the strain or type of weed.

Compare the side affects of marijuana to the legal, FDA approved pharmaceuticals currently on the market. Not even close.

    Wait, what was the question?

Any drug can have different effects on different people...however the driving thing scares me...you should never drive while drunk or high thats just stupid and dangerous.

As for the creative thing...I think it holds some truth... it may help people become more creative...this is just the effect it has on them. I disagree with you on if using means your not being creative...hiwever I dont think one should rely on a drug for creativity.
I have had quite a few people tell me how amazing they bet I would be high on weed...but I guess ill never know lol. I prefer to come up with my creative ideas in a shower or while enjoying some music.

Think about it though: people rely on all kinds of drugs. Antidepressants, for example. How is marijuana any worse? Hell, as far as I can tell, it has less serious side effects than most doctor-prescribed drugs.

Just because some people rely on some other drugs doesnt meen they should ... im not saying its worse...im saying I dont think its good to become dependent on a drug for all your creativity ....or for other reasons.
it does have less seriouse side effects...im not sure why your arguing with me?
        Im pro legalization

    • I really don't get the creative thing. I think if anything it makes me less creative. I was smoking more often last year but lately I have only done it about once a month. I've become bored with it in the past as well and tend to smoke in fazes. I see no benefit from it other than it can be fun sometimes. I have a few friends who insist it does not impair them and say it is just me. I do believe they are just unaware of it's effects and smoke too much to realize they are high.

True some people maybe be unaware as they cant see themselves. And you can become used to it and have to smoke more for a high.
I dont know if it would make me more creative...but I have heard stories of people who do smoke and get creative.

I had one friend tell me about this girl he used to know...one time she got high and painted a whole picture on a wall...she came up with all these stories for the little lives her painted people have...he showed ne one picture he had of the wall...it was indeed beautiful and detailed...
unfortunently I guess because she was high... failed to remember they were selling the house and had to paint the walls a solid color ...

        • That sucks they painted over it. I do notice getting high can make me stay on task better, but at the same time it makes tasks take longer and more difficult, which completely defeats the purpose of staying on task. I do not have the laziness problem a lot of people seem to get. I actually like to smoke in the summers when I have to do yard work because it makes the time pass by more quickly.

*nods* I just think it has different effects on different people.

It did suck about that painting...all that time and effort seemes a bit waisted.

I dont smoke and I never will. I have never taken any drugs lol XD
            (I should say besides medicine)
