Is it normal people keep telling me go temp agency but they dont do anything?

People keep telling me if I join a temp agency they find people work. I am technically part of 3 job agency and they never found me anything. Did I sign up for the wrong ones? Since the ones I sign up for just give me applications they say I should I fill out and not that I dont appreciate that but it doesn't help me get a job any quicker. So what is this delusion about temp agency's everyone seems to have? I was told that higher end jobs use temp agency's but being qualified in a trade I have not once got a job in that field. I have a guard card with 10 guard certificates, and a CPR card, and ROP in Business/management. I dont understand how its impossible to find anything like that? I know not that I dressed improperly or rude either.

Yea I'm a part of three temp agencies too and so far nothing has panned out. I took a deli position recently just to get any kind of job hoping I'd be able to replace it soon.

You still haven't found a job yet? With all your creds, I'm a bit surprised. Perhaps you should forget the security guard thing and try something different. It just does not seem to be what you are meant to be doing.

    • I know.. That is why I trying to get other certifications but I just worried it will turn out exactly the same way. Just I felt like I wasted all that time putting through the work of doing all the certificates and got nothing for it. Its not like I didn't try.

There comes a time when you can become over qualified for a job.
After I ran a cruise ship, I decided I wanted to stay a bit closer to my family and not travel so much. Every time I went to an interview though, it was always the same thing, "We'd love to hire you, but you are so over qualified for this position, we don't think you'd be happy here after a while." and I lost a job that would have suited my present needs, perfectly. Stopped showing the "big boat" credentials, just showing what was needed for that job, and I was back at work immediately.
Your case is a bit different with lots of paper and little experience, but the result may be the same. Give prospective employers only what they need to see to get your foot in the door. Anything more is just a bonus for the employer, because they got a better qualified employee for less money.

        • But that is the thing I was so under-qualified and was not getting call backs even for simple jobs. So I went and got certified and now I have all of these certificates and I cant find anything in that field even.

With an average wage of $10.26 per hour in the US, as I said, it may be time to change fields.
