Is it normal people have this misconception that intelligent means responsible?

I not sure why this is but people believe book smart and responsibility go hand and hand. This is often the exact opposite and its surprising people do not get this yet. Car company's will charge less if your kid gets good grades.

Parents seem to have this assumption as well which I do not understand. Even if they have a child who is gifted but still an idiot they will still assume the child is responsible since they are gifted with intelligence.

Yet if they get average to poor grades they charge more for insurance. Since when does being able to read a book mean you can drive a car? That makes no sense at all. Driving is a skill. That dude playing soccer(Football) does not need to have a lot of brains to do it.

In fact some of the famous Athletes are the biggest idiots on the planet but they can pass a ball. So what put this idea in peoples heads when it has been proven wrong time and time again? You could be the biggest bookworm on the planet still be an idiot. I have known some of the smartest people as well they have a photographic memory and passed with perfect marks but they are not someone you really want to trust with a chore since they wont do it.

As well as that a maid will clean but we consider them smart. Yet trust them enough to clean your house but do we consider these type of people? These people we are considering worthless are probobly a lot responsible than that brainic who passed school without trying. Also oddly enough people who are smarter tend to be a lot lazier and people who are not as smart seem to try a lot harder. So why do people still assume this? I really do not understand where its coming from.

I agree with this. I even lost a very good friend of mine over her delusional value of education. Its very good and honorable to do well in school and one shouldn't slack off. However, no one is going to look back at your grades and deny you all jobs if you weren't at the very top of your class all those years ago if you're actually qualified for the job. Most things taught in school are not what you'll need to survive and do things on your own, just complex equations and ideas that only professors that make a living in that field would use on a daily basis.

I also have seen an alarming rate of people using their class academic record as a way to look down on others. "I'm so tired of all my peers not trying, I'm ranked whatever in the national blahblah!" and makes it seem that some people who do well in school use it as the only means they have to feel better than and above others. No one ends up caring outside of a school setting though. Jake Kaufman dropped out of high school but I wouldn't have known that if I didn't look him up. His ability to compose great video game music completely outshines that.

I am living this at my current job. I have been there a year. I show up every day and slave away, but the new hires are always smarter and show off their smarts. The boss enjoys them so much. But within 3 months they have been fired for not showing up for work. Just not motivated.

The car insurance thing works off pure stats and not logic. If people with kids who get better grades are less likely to crash their cars, insurance companies will charge less even if it doesn't necessarily make logical sense for that to be the case. The many exceptions clearly aren't enough to swing the average the opposite way.

You don't need your throat for that.
