Is it normal people hate when children express themselves?

I really dont understand why parents, schools and people in general do this. If you have friends you discuss your feelings with your friends, If you have parents most of the time you cant tell them as parents only value what is important to them in a lot of cases.

If a child who is alone and has no friends but generally well behaved and obedient so they express themselves through art, or writing why is it considered bad for them to do so? Isnt it a little cruel to tell children that expressing yourself is bad.

I think that messes up kids but this is what we always do. We dont let them express themselves, We dont let them run around and expend energy, we dont let them be kids, we drug them up and sit them in front of the tv and say shut up and eat your Tv dinner. Isnt it a little sad? Dont kids deserve more? This is the American dream, what a joke.

Parents and teachers are now conditioned by society to be fully paranoid of everything. The child is then wrapped up in a cotton blanket.
When I was young I walked out of my house first thing in the morning and wouldn't be seen until tea time (sometimes deep into the night). There were girls and boys walking around playing everywhere.

Kids these days are missing out due to fear of their parents.

    • Exactly but there is being protective vs smothering your child. Obviously we need to protect children but not to the point of crippling them and ruining their futures. "Oh tommy cant do marshal arts hell get a booboo".

In my country (always private) even cap guns for kids were taken away.
As a child if I added up how many hours I used a cap gun or spud gun it may be years :)
My kids missed out on that :(

What's your country? Why does it need to be always private? I love to toy guns, and if I had kids I would give them toy guns, it's fun. I was more of water pistol type myself. I had a Tommy gun water pistol my dad gave me that was one of favorites, but sadly it started leaking. I hope I still have it somewhere.

Its private (and pls Mods hold off just a bit telling the world), because I always take myself as a world wide Internet user. I've been on every countries forums, I've even argued political points in countries (other than mine).

IF, I announce my country then I'm labelled as 'those type of people'. I prefer to be included, through the Internet, everywhere; and stereotypically no where specifically.

Water pistols are allowed still ;)

HS rifle team?. Suddenly playing HS baseball doesn't feel as manly.

I'm all for children "expressing themselves" through art or other forms of talent.

I am NOT a fan of children "expressing themselves" through temper tantrums and screaming fits...and this applies to adults as well.

I don't know if this is a post about kids expressing emotions or being raised in a bubble. Either way I blame the parents.

Ummmm I've never heard anyone put down their child for making a fantastic piece of art.... What kind of fucked up parents have you been hanging around with?
