Is it normal people delete comments?

Why do some people delete comments they don't like?

Last night there was a post that even warned users they would delete "mean comments" and I asked a question regarding why someone would even state that, which was of course deleted.

The only time I ever deleted another users comments was once when there was an unrelated off topic argument going on and I was sick of being notified every few minutes of it so I deleted the whole argument.

Other than that I see no reason to delete something, even if it goes against my opinion or is a troll comment.

If somebody cannot handle a variety of responses, they shouldn't have asked in the first place.

They delete comments because they can.

I've met loads if people like that in regular life. In their minds, they legit think that they are asking for advice, when what they are really looking for is approval, validation, or empathy. People like that get pissed when you don't tell them exactly what they want to hear.

Does this dress make me look fat?

That dress is virtually disproportionate with your kindly figure. Disregard it and try for a more flattering option. Here is a lovely flower to compliment your delicate face.

(How to get away with calling a woman fat.)

Couldn't physically agree more. I mean, it would actually be impossible. To agree more. Literally.

Thank goodness! I'm only here to be told that I'm right, so I'm glad you agree.

I want a girl to squat over my head, spread her buttcheeks apart, and take a hugeshameful dump all over my face.

People are just too overly sensitive these days. If they don't get that PC, sugarcoated, tell them what they want to hear advice, they delete it. One would think that on an adult site they could handle it like an adult, but they choose to delete advice that's actually helpful. It makes me wonder why they even came here asking for help in the first place.

They delete comments because on a (sub)conscious level, they only want to see their opinion under a different username.

I have deleted one comment on a post I created because it was drawing other users off topic.

The way I see it if you don't want people to tell you what they think you shouldn't ask it! this is called 'is it normal' after all.
But to be completely honest with this comment I have deleted my own comment before, I had realized I worded things a little more bias than I wanted so yep.

    • I don't see anything wrong with deleting your own comment. It's normal to realize you were wrong or want to rewrite something better. It's deleting other peoples comments that seems ridiculous.
