In my experience, no. The 'normal' expectation is to have a girlfriend. People who refuse to be a part of 'the dating game' are considered abnormal and treated like an outcast.
Of course it is.
Lots of people aren't in a relationship. Some choose to be single while for others it just hasn't worked out.
Since you asked this somewhat naive question I assume you're fairly young, so there's plenty of time for you to find someone if that's what you want.
